MTT started in 1963 as a stevedoring, shipping and trading company. As one of the pioneers in the shipping industry, MTT has witnessed and participated in the progress of Penang Port for the past 45 years. Our accumulated experiences over the years include shipping agency, sea freight forwarding, customs brokerage, stevedoring, lighterage & barging and general trading. MTT recognises that its continued success is due to its greatest resource - its committed and competent staff. The invaluable experience and expertise we have acquired over the years have developed our management and staff into highly trained professionals who fully understand the needs of our customers. New recruits who are mainly graduates are carefully trained by experienced staff. The mixture of experienced and new blood allows synergistic effect, which maximises the best of both worlds to achieve continuous development. In 1988, as a result of dynamic and continuous growth, MTT decided to branch out and offer a full suite of asset based total logistics services, through the incorporation of Priority Cargo Sdn Bhd and Priority Bonded Warehouse Sdn Bhd. The logistics operational site was located next to Phase 3 of the Penang Free Industrial Zone near the Penang International Airport. In 1995, further business growth demanded a bigger facility hence the logistics operational site was relocated to the present site within Phase 3 of the Penang Free Industrial Zone. In 1996, the MTT head office moved to the 13-storey Wisma MTT, which is located along Weld Quay with a view overlooking the Penang Port. With increasing customer support, MTT, along with its logistics subsidiaries, continued to grow throughout the past decade. The growth allowed MTT to gather momentum to diversify into other businesses. Today, MTT is the holding company of several businesses including bulk cargo, heavy equipment & materials handling service, small barge repair and construction with our own shipyard and slipway, training, business research & consultancy, event management as well as property and township development.
